International snacking adventure

I went to Fiesta a few minutes ago and got some stuff. Fiesta is a supermarket chain that carries a lot of foods from all over the world. This is awesome because you can find things there that you can’t find anywhere else (except in the countries where the things are actually made). It’s also a genius marketing strategy because the place is always packed with non-white people.

The thing I went there to get is a drink called Lemon Lime & Bitters. It’s like sprite with stuff called bitters in it that makes it taste really good. The brand is Angostura. Look it up if you want. It’s made in Jamaica, and its ingredients are very simple compared to soft drinks you find all over the united states. Sodium benzoate is the only potentially eyebrow raising thing in it.

Then I looked around to see if there was anything that looked good as a snack. I ended up torn between two things and got both of them. One is tamarind candy, whose ingredients are tamarind, sugar, and salt. Tamarind is a kind of pepper that is sweet and often used to flavor candies and drinks that are popular with Hispanic people. It’s hard to describe the taste because it’s so different from anything I’ve had before. It’s a product of Thailand.

The last thing I got was Ka*me brand sliced ginger. It’s made in China and has only two ingredients: ginger and sugar. As you can imagine, it’s awesome. It has the slightly spicy and moderately sweet taste that ginger is known for, and I assume it’s quite healthy because that’s what my pastor said.

So go out there and try something new. DO IT NOW!!!
